General Graduate Admissions FAQ's

How much is the application fee?
The application fee is $50 for master’s programs, $60 for doctoral programs and $20 for continuing education.

How can I obtain additional information on my major of interest?
You may submit your request online via the online inquiry form. You may also contact the Office of Graduate Admissions by phone at (321) 674-8027, or toll-free in the U.S. at (800) 944-4348.

How do I obtain the forms to apply to either the master’s or doctoral programs at Florida Tech?
You can apply online via our online application form or you can contact the Office of Graduate Admissions by phone at (321) 674-8027 or toll-free in the U.S. at (800) 944-4348 to have the forms mailed to you.

Is the GRE required for application to Florida Tech’s master’s and doctoral programs?
Please review the Summary of Required Admissions Materials for your requested major.

Can I apply for the doctoral (Ph.D.) programs without receiving a master’s degree first?
A majority of the departments require that an applicant obtain the master’s degree before applying for the doctoral program. In only a very few rare cases (reviewed on a case-by-case basis) is this possible.

What entrance exams are required for international applicants?
International applicants are required to demonstrate English language proficiency. A minimum score of 550 on the paper-based TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or a 213 on the computer-based TOEFL exam. In addition, please refer to the online catalog Languages and Linguistics section for additional exemptions.

Does Florida Tech offer any online courses and/or degrees?
Yes, Florida Tech offers 11 degrees, 11 certificates and some courses online. You can view these degrees, certificates and courses at our Center for Distance Learning Web site, http://ec.fit.edu/cdl.

Does Florida Tech offer degrees and courses at any other sites other than the main campus at Melbourne Florida?
Yes, Florida Tech has nine graduate centers around the country offering several different majors. Please review the School of Extended Graduate Studies site, http://segs.fit.edu, for locations, majors and degree requirements.
