Florida Work Experience

(FWEP)

FWEP is a program funded by the State of Florida which partners eligible students with employers in their major area of study. FWEP provides eligible Florida students work experience that will complement and reinforce their educational and career goals. This gives students eligible for Federal Work Study the opportunity to gain professional experience while attending school.

Florida Tech Program Eligibility Requirements

• Students must be Florida Residents enrolled at Florida Tech and pursuing their

  first undergraduate degree.

• Must have unmet financial need as indicated by your Financial Aid package for    the current academic year.

• Maintain full-time enrollment and maintain a 2.8 GPA at Florida Tech.

• Completed Freshman Year.

Program Process

If you meet the requirements above and are interested, register with the Office of Student Employment. Let us know your full name, major field of study, anticipated graduation, and the semester you are interested in starting the program.

The Office of Student Employment must have a copy of your resume on College Central Network in order to provide job search services to you. We will distribute your resume to appropriate employers. It will be the responsibility of the student and the potential employer to arrange interviews.

Once you receive an offer of employment, please visit the Office of Student Employment for further instructions.

FWEP is different from Federal Work Study because the participating company employs you. Therefore, you will be paid by the company and on their pay schedule. Florida Tech will reimburse your employer for a percentage of your wages based on the requirements of FWEP.

Once hired, an agreement between the employer and student must be completed to follow program guidelines. Hours will be determined based on company pay and eligible financial award amount.

You are required to submit timesheets biweekly for the time you work so that the program is processed accurately.

Please contact the Office of Student Employment with questions
