FAQ - Dining Services

  1. What's FlexCash?
FlexCash is part of your meal plan and can be used just like cash at any of Florida Tech's food service operations. When you tell the cashier to take your purchase out of FlexCash, your card will be run through the register, the amount will be deducted and your balance will be displayed.

  2. What can I buy with FlexCash?
Remember FlexCash is part of your meal plan. It can be used for any food item at all of our locations! You can use FlexCash in select vending machines, to buy food for friends, or purchase prepackaged retail items such as candy bars, packaged snacks, bottled beverages and frozen microwavable foods.

  3. Can I use a meal point in the Rathskeller, SUB Cafe or Center Court?
No, Meal Points can only be used in Evans Dining. The FlexCash portion of your meal plan may be used in the Rathskeller Eatery, the SUB Cafe, Center Court and Evans Dining.

  4. Can I use the meal plan more than once in a meal period?
Yes, we want you to eat when you want. Please exercise caution when doing this, because you could run out of meals.

  5. Can I share my meal plan with a friend?
No, meal plans are contracted with each individual student and cannot be transferred or shared with others. Cards used by anyone other than the registered cardholder will be confiscated. However, you can treat a friend to a meal at Evans by using the guest passes provided with your meal plan or by using FlexCash at any of our locations.

  6. What happens to unused Points and FlexCash?
There is no rollover or refund for unused meal points. FlexCash, however, will roll over from Summer terms to Fall semester and Fall Semester to Spring semester, providing that a new meal plan is purchased for the rollover term. All FlexCash is zeroed out at the end of the Spring semester.

  7. What do I do if I run out of Meal Points?
You may simply use the FlexCash portion of your meal plan instead. Additional FlexCash may be purchased from the Office of Auxiliary Services.

  8. Can I buy more FlexCash?
Yes, a minimum $10 extra FlexCash can be purchased at the Campus Services office. Also, each $100 purchase of FlexCash will earn an additional deposit of $5 in FlexCash to your account.

  9. Can I use my plan during Spring Break or Thanksgiving?
Traditionally meal plans are not available during school breaks, but as a courtesy to our meal-plan holders, Florida Tech's food services will honor meal plans during Thanksgiving and spring break. However, meal plans terminate at the end of each semester. If you find yourself on campus between semesters, you may make special arrangements with Auxiliary Services for a supplementary meal plan.

  10. What if I can't make it to meals because I am in class or at work?
We'll be happy to supply you with a bag lunch at Evans Dining. Just let us know when and we'll have your lunch ready 'to go.' A meal point will be deducted just as if you had eaten in.
