Reminders

Dear Fraternities and Sororities,

The always exciting Greek Week event has just passed.  Everyone had a lot of fun and it brought everyone together.  Remember these times of healthy competition to motivate yourself in all walks of life.

Relay for Life

relay4life      Relay for Life this year will take place on March 28, 2008 starting at 6:00 PM and will conclude mid-day on March 29, 2008.  Relay for Life is a national event held in multiple locations all year round.  It is part of the American Cancer Society with a purpose to raise money to help fight the battle against cancer and to give hope to those who are.  Please go to the FIT Relay for Life website to join a team, start a team, or join as an individual.  Donate some money to the ACS, and get out there and collect!

American Heart Association 2008 Start! Heart Walk

Become a team leader at this year's Heart Walk.  The responsibilities include:

  • Recruit 10-15 fundraising walkers, such as co-workers, family members, and friends to represent Florida Tech
  • Set your team's total and individual goals
    • Last year's average per walker was $179
  • Register your team online and monitor their success at http://brevardheartwalk.kintera.org
  • Encourage all walkers to raise money
    • Dollars = Lives Saved!
  • Recruit at least one Top Walker raising $1,000
  • Motivate, support and follow up regularly with your walkers
    • AHA staff Member Sonia Rivera will provide support along the way
  • Walk as a team on September 27, 2008 at the Space Coast Stadium and encourage healthy living

Heart disease is the number one killer of Americans.  Through awareness, prevention, and promoting active, healthy lifestyles we can save lives.  Last year, over $100,000 was raised for research and awareness programs that will directly affect Brevard County.  Do it for yourself, for your loved ones and for your community!

Greek Week

Greek Week this year took place from Friday, March 14, 2008 to Saturday, March 22, 2008.  The week was exciting with every event meaning something.  All organizations gave it their all, but more importantly, everybody had fun.  The sorority lead changed hands almost everyday, but Alpha Phi pulled it out at the end.  Also, Alpha Tau Omega made a valiant effort in their first year as a fraternity, and even though Pi Kappa Alpha won in the end, they showed the Florida Tech Fraternity and Sorority community that they can compete.  After all, the week came down to the last event, chariot races, to see who would win.

Campus Clean-up

Come out and clean up your Florida Tech campus!  Earn campus service hours while making your college campus a nice place to travel about.   The event will take place on Saturday March 29, 2008 from 9 AM to 1 PM.  The requirement for participation in this event is 40% of each organization.  This is the same weekend as Relay for Life.

Order of Omega
The deadline to apply for membership into Order of Omega is fast approaching.  The applications will be due on Monday, April 7, 2008 by 5 PM.  They can either be placed in the Order of Omega Box or emailed to espinney@fit.edu by that time.

Second, two windows in the Denius Student Center are approved locations for window painting.  Windows not approved as window painting locations shall not be painted.  Paintings must abide by the following guidelines:

                A. Windows must be reserved by the organization through the student life office for a week at a time on a first come first served basis.

                B. Organization must check out approved window paint

                C. The painting must follow the posting policy guidelines

                D. A Student Life Representative will approve finished painting.

                E. Organization is responsible for cleaning the window upon the conclusion of the reserved slot.
