October 08, 2008: Florida Tech Schedules Aviation Day, Features Tuskegee Airmen MELBOURNE, FLA.—As part of its Homecoming 2008 festivities, the Florida Tech College of Aeronautics will hold Aviation Day at FIT Aviation on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 9 to 4 p.m. The event will be held on the property of Melbourne International Airport.
Aviation Day offers something for all family members with many static aviation displays, a classic car display, food vendors and a deejay.
Several Tuskegee Airmen will be there to discuss their World War II exploits. Visitors will also see two PT17 World War I trainers; a GyroCraft gyroplane; an RV16 two-seat, home-built, single-engine plane; various helicopters; an L39 Albatross; and a Beechcraft single-engine turboprop...
