Applied Behavior Analysis Graduate Certificates (4th Edition)
New Requirements For BCaBA® And BCBA® Credentials Go Into Effect On January 1, 2022.
There are two levels of certification:
Board Certified Behavior Analyst®
(BCBA®)
- Minimum of a master's degree in psychology, education or applied behavior analysis
- Visit the BACB website for additional requirements
- Six-term sequence: BCBA Course Content
Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst®
(BCaBA®)
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree
- Visit the BACB website for additional requirements
- Four-term sequence: BCaBA Course Content
What is the difference between a BCBA and BCaBA?
The requirements to take the BCaBA certification examination are lower than the requirements to take the BCBA examination. The BACB requires that a BCaBA work under the supervision of a BCBA and not independently. Some states adhere to this BACB recommendation while others have different stipulations depending on the type of client or specific practices. Occupations and pay scale may vary and differ per agency and state.
