Bio
Captain Todd M. Insler brings a wealth of experience in aviation leadership, pilot representation, and industry innovation to the Florida Tech Aeronautics Advisory Board. A B787 Captain for United Airlines, Captain Insler operates super long-haul international flights, demonstrating expertise in advanced flight systems and global aviation operations.
Captain Insler’s leadership credentials are extensive. He served three consecutive terms as Chairman of the United Airlines Pilots’ Master Executive Council (UALMEC) of the Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), representing over 15,000 professional pilots. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in shaping policies that safeguarded pilot careers and advanced labor relations. His previous leadership roles include Chairman of the UALMEC Grievance Committee, United Pilots’ System Board of Adjustment, ALPA’s Executive Board, ALPA's National Information Technology Advisory Committee, PAC Chairman, and as a government affairs lobbyist.
At United Airlines, Captain Insler contributed as a Program Manager for the Flight Systems/Flight Technology division and as a Line Check Airman, showcasing his commitment to pilot training and operational excellence. Elected to United Airlines’ Board of Directors in 2016, he served three terms during the company's unprecedented growth, helping United become the world’s largest airline. Notably, he facilitated the integration of Florida Tech students into United’s AVIATE pathway program, providing critical career opportunities for aspiring aviators.
Captain Insler holds a bachelor’s degree from the Florida Institute of Technology and pursued graduate studies in Labor and Corporate Policy at the State University of New York, Harry Van Arsdale School of Labor Studies. Residing in Providence, Rhode Island, with his wife and two children, Captain Insler is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of aviation leaders and advancing innovation in the industry.
