Manager, Mechanical Engineering
Ryan Wood serves as Manager (Mechanical Engineering) at L3Harris Technologies: Space & Airborne Systems in Palm Bay, FL. His current role includes serving as sub-contract technical manager for precision graphite structures used on unfurlable mesh reflector satellite antennas. He performs Group Lead functional manager role with up to 10 direct reports (Sept 2019 – Present). Ryan is recognized as a Subject Matter Expert for composite structures and he launched the “Composites Working Group” within SAS Mechanical Engineering at L3Harris.
Prior to L3Harris, Ryan worked at Matrix Composites, Rockledge, FL as Engineering Manager. Matrix Composites is an industry leading supplier of aerospace-grade composite parts and assemblies using advanced materials and processes (AS9100 & Nadcap certified small business). Ryan earned his Bachelor of Science, Ocean Engineering, at Florida Tech in May 2010. His technical skills include GD&T per ASME Y14.5 standards and structural analysis (FEA) of isotropic and anisotropic parts/assemblies. He has strong familiarity with advanced composite materials and manufacturing of primary and secondary airframe structures for military and commercial aircraft. Ryan has demonstrated leadership skills serving as manager of an Engineering Department consisting of junior and senior staff members across a wide variety of engineering disciplines.
