Protestant Campus Ministry (PCM) at Florida Tech is an independent, ecumenical outreach organization that brings together students, employees, alumni, and the greater community of Protestant Christians, regardless of denominational affiliation, to explore their faith.
Protestant Campus Ministry serves to help develop spiritual awareness and personal responsibility, leadership and communication skills (for social and leadership purposes), and an appreciation of, and commitment to, ethics, social justice, and mutual support of one's fellows.
Young adult college students are in the process of making the most important decisions of their lives, including those of education, career, family, faith, and ethics. These college students are destined to be tomorrow's world leaders but, because of their transitional nature, many aspects of society have a difficult time reaching or having an impact on these young adults. This is where not-for-profit mission organizations like PCM come into action.
Protestant Campus Ministry's Vision
Protestant Campus Ministry's vision is twofold: supplementing the spiritual needs of the Florida Tech community, and partnering with people, churches and other organizations in Brevard County.
Protestant Campus Ministry supplements the spiritual needs of the Florida Tech community through a variety of activities:
- Monday dinners: free weekly dinners served by a variety of local churches
- Pastoral care: speak with the chaplain and receive free goodies as well as sustaining information such as the current event or ethical question of the week
- Bible studies: discuss the implications for our lives contained in the scriptures
- Monthly worship services
- Community service opportunities
- Social activities: make connections with others who are also pursuing spiritual growth
- Student leadership development opportunities
- A professional, youth, and “grandparent” mentoring program
- Church referrals
Protestant Campus Ministry works to partner with the Brevard Community through the goal of offering Christ as a positive option to Florida Tech's students from all over our world. PCM offers to the larger community:
- Preaching and presentations on diverse topics
- Advertising to the campus community promoting local church or hospitality events
- Coordinating the efforts of ethical, well-rounded, intelligent students to assist with projects

Protestant Campus Ministry's Goals
- Connect Florida Tech with the surrounding community in new and exciting ways, including promoting relationships between students and local churches.
- Provide staff and resources at Florida Institute of Technology, the primary staff member to be a part-time minister.
- Provide for annual partial scholarship funds for one or more Christian students at Florida Institute of Technology who have provided outstanding service to the Campus Ministry and the local community.
Protestant Campus Ministry seeks to minister, as appropriate, and be hospitable to people from other countries and faiths so they may feel at home in this community. Our county and Florida Tech are unique in that engineering and other technically-oriented fields are prominent. Local churches and ministries have a special opportunity to reach those who advance creation in intellectual endeavors. Parish churches and non-traditional ministries like PCM have different identities, but the hope is that all will come together and continue to grow with a shared goal of effectively meeting the varied Christian needs on campus and in the broader surrounding community.
Protestant Campus Ministry strives to create and promote a healthy, spiritual, joyful, and successful place in which students can thrive. Let us know how you would like to get involved!
