Matthew Petrie Class of 2015 Major: MBA Current Home: Orlando, FL

What career or personal update would you like to give to your fellow Florida Tech Panthers alumni?

I have held many different positions at Lockheed Martin over a span of 20 years. I started my career on the production floor as an electrical mechanical optical test specialist. After that I moved into program finance as a financial analyst. This led to me taking on an interest in the capture side of business and my next role as a proposal analyst. I then moved into Operations leadership, leading several key Operations projects for Digital Transformation. I have recently just moved into a new position as a Program Manager for Digital Transformation at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control. I hope to continue to grow my career and look for the next new and challenging position.

How did your time at Florida Tech help get you to where you are today?

Achieving my MBA from Florida Institute of Technology has allowed me to qualify for more positions earlier in my career. Having my MBA has also allowed me to have a wider view on career opportunities that I would not have been afforded without an MBA.

What is your favorite Florida Tech memory?

Receiving an induction into Phi Kappa Phi honor society and receiving the Outstanding Student Award only 1 day apart in 2014.

Was there a mentor or professor who had a big impact on you personally and/or professionally?

Professor Jan Mangos had a large impact on my me, both professionally and personally. She helped me to understand the importance of marketing for businesses and she even inspired my wife and I to start a 501c3. Professor Mangos truly cared for her students and took time to get to know them on a personal level.

Please share any advice you have for current Florida Tech students.

My advice would be to network, not only with fellow students, but also your professors. You never know who will have a profound impact on your career and life. Go Panthers!!!
