What career or personal update would you like to give to your fellow Florida Tech Panthers alumni?

I took my talents to the PNW! I moved careers and locations from Melbourne, FL to Portland, OR where I now work as a newly licensed Professional Engineer, Practice Builder, and Project Manager for Kimley-Horn & Associates in their Development Services group. I specialize in Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure, Data Centers, and Industrial Development in the NW United States. I live near downtown Vancouver, WA and spend my time outdoors and with my family who I missed after moving to Florida many years go.

How did your time at Florida Tech help get you to where you are today?

Florida Tech changed my life, in such a great way! Coming from a more turbulent family and home life, I found a community and new chosen family here in Melbourne. The network, lessons, opportunities, education, and career (I worked for Florida Tech too! shoutout to Facilities Operations) helped me get to where I am today. People like Chad Shoultz, Chris Peterson, Bryan Stahl, and my fellow graduates were hugely influential on my success today.

What is your favorite Florida Tech memory?

In 2019, and after a couple years of effort, the ASCE group on campus hosted the 2019 ASCE National Concrete Canoe Competition in Melbourne! We hosted more than 600 people from the US, China, Canada, Puerto Rico, and India! We raised funds for our Eric Primavera Scholarship Endowment, we rented out Kennedy Space Center, and we had such a fantastic time!

Was there a mentor or professor who had a big impact on you personally and/or professionally?

Dr. Paul Cosentino. There is nobody at Florida Tech who is more passionate about the education of their students, their wellbeing, their success, and their character. He has been showing that enthusiasm, excitement, and passion every day on and off campus since he joined Florida Tech over 30 years ago. I know I feel the same way as so many other alumni… that this crazy old Italian guy is one of the best the University has to offer and embodies its values and vision at his core. He is the best part of my time there. Ask him about baseball, Pittsburg, Soil, and his amazing family!

Please share any advice you have for current Florida Tech students.

My advice would be to really take the time to enjoy your stay at Florida Tech, leverage your relationships while you're there and after, and focus on the people around you. So much of what that community produces is very impressive people that have bonded over years of hard work, fun times, and shared excellence! Just make sure that you wake up each day trying to make a positive impact on the people around you, it will change their life and they will change yours.
