What career or personal update would you like to give to your fellow Florida Tech Panthers alumni?
Currently, I am serving as the Deputy Program Manager for the NEMCON (NASA Environmental and Medical Contract) at NASA. The journey from our esteemed alma mater to a leadership position at NASA has been incredibly rewarding. The skills, knowledge, and perspectives gained during my time at Florida Tech have been instrumental in navigating the complexities of the aerospace industry and excelling in this dynamic role. I am grateful for the solid foundation that Florida Tech provided, shaping not only my professional trajectory but also fostering a passion for innovation and exploration. I would love to reconnect with fellow alumni, hear your updates, and continue building our network of accomplished individuals.
How did your time at Florida Tech help get you to where you are today?
My tenure at Florida Tech played a pivotal role in shaping my current professional standing. Specifically, pursuing the MBA program at Florida Tech was the key that unlocked numerous doors and propelled me into higher-level positions. The comprehensive curriculum of the MBA program equipped me with a diverse skill set, combining theoretical knowledge with practical applications. This blend proved invaluable as I transitioned to more strategic and leadership roles. The program's emphasis on critical thinking, strategic planning, and effective decision-making provided me with the tools needed to navigate complex business challenges. The MBA program at Florida Tech served as a catalyst for my career growth by instilling in me the confidence and knowledge required for higher-level positions. The focus on leadership development and strategic management empowered me to contribute meaningfully to my organization and take on roles with greater responsibilities. In essence, my time at Florida Tech, particularly in pursuing the MBA, was transformative. It not only expanded my skill set but also positioned me strategically in the professional landscape, ultimately playing a pivotal role in my journey to higher-level positions.
What is your favorite Florida Tech memory?
My engagement with the Florida Institute of Technology was predominantly through online platforms, making me a remote learner and an ardent supporter of the virtual classroom. Despite not physically spending much time on campus, my connection with Florida Tech was deeply meaningful, with one standout experience etched in my memory – the day of graduation. As a primarily online student, graduation day at Florida Tech marked the culmination of my academic journey, a momentous occasion that transcended the confines of physical presence. The sense of accomplishment and pride as I walked across the stage to receive my degree was a testament to the dedication and hard work invested in my studies. The ceremony not only symbolized the attainment of academic excellence but also served as a celebration of the supportive virtual community that I had been a part of throughout my time at Florida Tech. The connections forged with professors, peers, and mentors in the digital realm were brought to life in that moment, creating a tangible sense of camaraderie and shared achievement. Reflecting on my favorite memory of Florida Tech, the graduation experience encapsulated the essence of my educational journey – a testament to the institution's commitment to providing a meaningful and inclusive learning environment, even for remote learners like myself. While my physical presence on campus might have been limited, the impact of Florida Tech on my academic and personal growth was profound and lasting.
Was there a mentor or professor who had a big impact on you personally and/or professionally?
Keith Gott, my mentor at FTI Consulting, has had a significant impact on both my personal and professional development. His guidance and mentorship have been instrumental in shaping my career trajectory. Professionally, Keith's wealth of experience and insights in the consulting field has been invaluable. His mentorship has not only enhanced my strategic thinking and problem-solving skills but has also provided me with a broader perspective on navigating challenges within the industry. On a personal level, Keith's approachability and willingness to share his knowledge have created a supportive and encouraging mentor-mentee relationship. His mentorship style goes beyond just professional advice, extending to valuable insights on work-life balance, leadership qualities, and continuous learning. In essence, Keith Gott has been more than a mentor – he has been a guide, providing me with the tools and perspectives needed to thrive in my professional journey. Having navigated my way from a frontline position to an executive role, I would like to offer some valuable advice to current Florida Tech students. Firstly, embrace every opportunity to learn and grow, even in seemingly mundane tasks. The skills and insights gained from your early experiences can serve as a solid foundation for your future endeavors. Additionally, seek out mentors within your organization or industry. The guidance and wisdom of seasoned professionals can provide invaluable insights and accelerate your career progression. Don't hesitate to express your aspirations and seek advice – many successful individuals are more than willing to share their knowledge. Take a proactive approach to continuous learning. Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and business developments. A commitment to ongoing education, both formal and informal, will position you as a dynamic and adaptable professional. Build strong relationships with your colleagues and superiors. Effective communication, collaboration, and a positive attitude can make a significant impact on your professional journey.
