What career or personal update would you like to give to your fellow Florida Tech Panthers alumni?
I am a Partner in MobileMedix Plus, an Orlando-based company that uses community paramedics to provide high-acuity patient care in the home. This business is based on a concept that I created using financial grants in 2016. It grew to the point where it required private investment in late 2023. Community paramedicine in this model operates outside the usual EMS role. Our experienced community paramedics care for hospital patients in their homes, providing disease management, self-care education, and social needs in addition to clinical support.
How did your time at Florida Tech help get you to where you are today?
I required a Master's in Health Administration or Business Administration to advance in the hospital chain where I was employed. My career as a result has included senior level hospital and long-term living facility administration, hospital association and health planning management.
What is your favorite Florida Tech memory?
Graduation as that was my first time on campus. As a SEGS student, I took all of my classes in various Orlando area locations.
Was there a mentor or professor who had a big impact on you personally and/or professionally?
Dr. David Clapp, who was SEGS dean in Orlando at the time, was most supportive. He guided me in course selection and ensured that I was prepared to pursue the MBA degree.
Please share any advice you have for current Florida Tech students.
Read a lot inside and outside of your major course of study. As I told my sons while they were in school, my success in large part resulted from identifying trends early and acting on them. I wasn't necessarily smarter than anyone else, but it was my ability to read, analyze, and act on what I recognized as an early trend that enabled me to be viewed as a business "prophet". Additionally, discover what your teammates desire to achieve in their careers and lives and enable them to do that to the best of your ability.
