What career or personal update would you like to give to your fellow Florida Tech Panthers alumni?

My career is in constant change. I was working as an IT specialist in Boynton Beach for the Dioceses of Palm Beach County at Saint Thomas More Church. There, I was working with different systems like security, networks, enterprise information, serial devices, video surveillance, etc. I also gained experience in the process of phone migration and porting between Comcast and Nextiva. In addition, I entered, monitored, and completed all entries in the Support Desk tracking system. This included stating the issues, listing all troubleshooting steps, providing a resolution and marking the records as completed. After this experience, I joined Tesla for a new adventure as a Technician in the Pathway to Start program. There, I had been learning about the software that Tesla uses in its cars. These included universal packages, firmware release packages, etc. and I got hands-on experience working with them. I learned how to identify vitals from customers vehicles, recognize the different generations of Tesla Models and understand operational vehicle safety. I also can summarize and demonstrate how to properly install different car parts, including unique electronic components like computers, sensors, lights, safety and security systems, etc. I wonder what experiences I will find in the future.

How did your time at Florida Tech help get you to where you are today?

I learned many new things. I was in contact with lots of professionals from different areas, both my co-workers and university professors.

What is your favorite Florida Tech memory?

Having group work with my classmates gave us the opportunity to work together and to share experiences. I always value people and I think that developing friendships and relationships is very important.

Was there a mentor or professor who had a big impact on you personally and/or professionally?

The professor I consider my favorite is Professor Mark Dausch. He taught me Python for Data Science and I think he was one of the best Teachers I had at FIT in the coding area. He dedicated time to teaching us in many different, meaningful ways. He used Python with us. He explained to us, step by step, with exercises and practices, how to program with Python. From the simplest to the most complex task, he introduced activities and exercises that we would apply in daily life. He never just sent us to review and read the textbook and solve problems. He explained topics to us in a way that all teachers should, a way that was engaging and that showed he cared.
