What career or personal update would you like to give to your fellow Florida Tech Panthers alumni?
After graduating, I began working full-time at Groundswell Startups, a local startup incubator. A few months later, I received an incredible opportunity to join Kalogon, a startup specializing in medical tech devices. I spent seven months there, gaining invaluable experience and insight into my strengths and areas for improvement, both professionally and personally. Unfortunately, when my US visa expired, I had to part ways with Kalogon. I then began the interview process with Accenture, and after five interviews, I accepted an offer to work with them. I’m now based in Milan, and I’m excited about this new chapter in my career.
How did your time at Florida Tech help get you to where you are today?
My time at Florida Tech has been invaluable in getting me to where I am today and where I aspire to be in the future. The guidance from great professors and mentors who shared their invaluable experiences was instrumental in my development. Additionally, being surrounded by talented and intelligent classmates challenged me to elevate my own performance and aspirations.
What is your favorite Florida Tech memory?
One of my favorite memories from Florida Tech is from the first week of classes. Coming from Italy, I wasn’t fluent in English, and I ended up choosing two of the most challenging courses in my first semester, taking four graduate classes with a heavy study load. On the first day, a professor asked us to introduce ourselves professionally. While my classmates gave impressive presentations about their startups, volunteer work, and successful investments, I simply introduced myself by stating my name and the fact that I graduated from a university not well-known in the U.S. It was a humbling yet amusing moment that I fondly remember.
Was there a mentor or professor who had a big impact on you personally and/or professionally?
That’s a tough question, as all the professors at Florida Tech made an impact on me with their high-level teaching. However, if I had to choose one, Dr. Walton had the biggest influence on me both professionally and personally. I took a class with him every semester, and I really appreciated how he went beyond textbook teaching by sharing practical lessons and advice from his own experience. His classes were challenging, but they made me stronger and more capable.
Please share any advice you have for current Florida Tech students.
My biggest piece of advice is to try as many things as possible and not be afraid to make mistakes. Someone once told me, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take,” and I believe that’s completely true. Sometimes, you need to jump into new experiences to get out of your comfort zone and discover what truly challenges you. Additionally, embrace the diversity on campus. Florida Tech is filled with brilliant international students, and you can learn a lot from the different perspectives they offer.
