What career or personal update would you like to give to your fellow Florida Tech Panthers alumni?
For a carreer update I have recently been promoted to Project Manager - Marine Operations Coordinator at Fincantieri Services USA. Fincantieri is the leading company in the shipbuilding market, with over 40% market share in the cruise ship private sector serving all leading cruise players globally. Additionally, Fincantieri is a strategic partner of the Italian Navy and US Navy. Lastly, it is at the forefront of energy efficient vessels supporting the growth of the renewable energy industry. I focus mainly on Marine operations related to the propulsion and stabilization systems of cruise ships.
How did your time at Florida Tech help get you to where you are today?
I use daily the knowledge and tools I earned during my time at Florida Tech. The various facilities such as the computer labs in Olin Engineering Complex, the Senior Student Design project which assist students to prepare for real life engineering tasks, the reaserch studies that helped me grow my engineerings skills beyond those acquired by classes and the great professors at Florida Tech all contributed to help me get where I am today.
What is your favorite Florida Tech memory?
With my friends doing our projects at the computer lab inside Evans Hall and then taking a break playing ping pong. Then finishing the day with a milkshake from the Black Kat Kafé.
Was there a mentor or professor who had a big impact on you personally and/or professionally?
Various professors contibuted to my growth professionally. From the top of my head I want to give thanks to Dr. Beshoy Morkos who was my advisor during my time at FIT, he always steered me to the right direction. Dr. Chiradeep Sen whose passion for engineering and pop quizzes helped me greatly and Dr. Marcus Hohlmann who was my research professor and helped me develop tools which I widely use in my professional career.
Please share any advice you have for current Florida Tech students.
Do research!! Florida Tech excels as a research first university and it is a tool students should be taking advantage of. FIT is full of incredible professors that are at the forefront of many studies and students should find a subject they resonate with and join the reasearch study of one of these professors. This helps immensly when searching for job later in life. Lastly, never be afraid to fail as failure is the path to success. Students should look at failure as a way to improve in a certain area instead of looking at it negatively.
