What career or personal update would you like to give to your fellow Florida Tech Panthers alumni?
Here’s an updated response that includes your training and current position: --- Since graduating, I’ve had the privilege of training at the Economic Diversification department at the Oman Investment Authority, where I gained valuable insights into Oman’s economic landscape. I’m now working as a Senior Associate in VAT consulting at Ernst and Young, helping businesses navigate complex tax regulations and optimize their operations. Being in this role has been incredibly rewarding and has allowed me to apply the skills I developed at Florida Tech. On a personal note, I absolutely loved my time in Melbourne and often find myself missing the friends and experiences I had there. However, as much as I cherish those memories, I realized that I couldn’t live away from the place where I grew up. Muscat has always been home to me, and being here allows me to stay connected to my roots while continuing to pursue my career goals.
How did your time at Florida Tech help get you to where you are today?
My time at Florida Tech was crucial in shaping my career. Training at Petroleum Development Oman gave me practical industry experience, projects like building financial models and companies from scratch taught me to think entrepreneurially. Professors like Charles Bryant and Timothy Muth were instrumental, with both becoming mentors and friends who significantly impacted my career path. The international environment at Florida Tech prepared me to work with global clients and diverse teams, a key aspect of my current role. The challenges I faced there helped me grow both personally and professionally.
What is your favorite Florida Tech memory?
One of my favorite memories at Florida Tech was during a weekend when I was sitting alone on the field, taking a break from studying. I just needed some fresh air and a bit of time to clear my head. After a while, a group of students, who were also taking a break from studying, came up to me and ask me to join them in a soccer game. What started as a quiet morning turned into a great afternoon. We played for a couple of hours, just having fun and enjoying the game. By the end of it, I had made some new friends. We ended up meeting regularly after that to play soccer, and those games became one of the highlights of my time at Florida Tech. It was a simple moment, but it reminded me that it easy it was to connect with the most random people and find a sense of community, even in the most unexpected ways.
Was there a mentor or professor who had a big impact on you personally and/or professionally?
Both Professor Tim Muth and Professor Charles Bryant made a big impact on me. Prof. Muth did not only teach me investments—he became a mentor and a friend. He had this way of breaking down complex ideas that just clicked, and he was always there with solid financial advice when I asked. Prof. Bryant was the kind of professor who was always there for his students, whether you needed help with coursework or just some career advice. His passion for finance and his genuine care for my success really pushed me to do better.
Please share any advice you have for current Florida Tech students.
My advice to current Florida Tech students is to embrace every opportunity that comes your way, whether it's a challenging project, an internship, or simply joining a student organization. The experiences we gain outside the classroom are just as important as what we learn inside it. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and think outside the box as that’s where the real growth happens.
