Bio
Jan Montgomery possesses a Master of Science in Psychology, specializing in Applied Behavior Analysis, which she completed under the mentorship of Dr. Raymond Miltenberger at North Dakota State University. She received certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) in 2000. Additionally, to further enhance her qualifications in the education sector, Jan earned a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education in 2019. Throughout her career, Jan has made substantial contributions to various programs, including managing a secure unit for individuals with head injuries, leading local review committees, providing consulting services for group homes that support individuals with developmental disabilities, and conducting behavior workshops for caregivers and professionals.
From 1997 to 2008, Jan focused her efforts on supporting dependent children and their caregivers in the child welfare system. She collaborated with a team under the guidance of Dr. Michael Stoutimore to initiate a pilot project with the Positive Parenting group, informed by the methodologies of Dr. Glenn Latham. This initiative was later expanded to include all counties in Florida.
Jan has held various positions within the Florida Association for Behavior Analysis (FABA), serving on the executive board from 2003 to 2006 and again from 2009 to 2011, during which time she was elected President for the 2009-2010 term. Since 2009, she has served as a Lead Instructor at ABA Technologies, Inc., an organization founded by Dr. Jose Martinez-Diaz in partnership with the Florida Institute of Technology. In her current role, she supervises a team of instructors, engages in curriculum development, and delivers instruction across a range of ABA coursework.
