Personal Overview

Dr. S. Ann (Annie) Becker is a University Professor of Information Systems at Florida Institute of Technology (Florida Tech). During her twenty plus years in academia, Dr. Becker has held executive, administrative, and faculty positions at Florida Tech. She recently served as Senior Vice President for Research with a focus on developing an infrastructure of support for key research initiatives. Prior, Dr. Becker served as Dean of the Bisk College of Business in pursuit of strategic initiatives in entrepreneurship and innovation, online learning and extended programs, ethics and leadership, and business school accreditation. She also served as Associate Dean of Research and Academic Chair of business online undergraduate and graduate programs. She served in directorship positions for the National Center for Small Business Information and the Center for Entrepreneurship and New Business Development and as co-director of the Software Engineering Research Center.

Dr. Becker has developed curricula for information systems, software engineering, and innovation and entrepreneurship degree programs. She has extensive experience teaching courses on campus, off-site, and online at undergraduate and graduate levels. As a researcher, she has produced over 100 publications, received research awards of $1.5 million, and served as the Principal Investigator on projects totaling $3.3 million.

Dr. Becker was conferred the title of University Professor, a distinction by Florida Tech’s President and Provost, while holding a joint appointment in the Computer Science Department and the Bisk College of Business at Florida Tech. Dr. Becker has previously held tenured positions as a full professor at Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, Arizona, and as an associate professor at American University, Washington D.C.

Dr. Becker holds a Ph.D. and an M.S. in Information Systems from the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland. She holds an MBA and a B.S. in Management from the G. R. Herberger College of Business, St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud, Minnesota, and a Graduate Certificate in Contract Management from the Bisk College of Business, Florida Tech, Melbourne. Florida.
