Personal Overview
Dr. Hong’s research focuses on robotics, machine learning, optimization and data analytics that involve surrogate modeling, intelligent control, design optimization, visual servoing, and GPU/edge computing. His current and previous research projects include, neural network-based model predictive control, fault mitigation of safety critical systems, AI-based sensor fusion, path planning, data-driven modeling of microfluidic devices, surrogate-assisted optimization, intelligent health monitoring, and unmanned perception. Upon joining FIT Dr. Hong spent 4 years at University of South Carolina as a research assistant professor and postdoctoral fellow.
