In accordance with Florida Tech’s duty to provide and maintain a workplace that is free of known hazards, we are adopting this policy to safeguard the health of our Faculty and Staff and their families; our students and visitors; and the community at large from infectious diseases, such as COVID-19 or influenza, that may be reduced by vaccinations. This policy will comply with all applicable laws and is based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local health authorities, as applicable.
This policy is based upon guidance from the CDC, the Equal and Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and legal research on cases involving required vaccinations.
All Florida Tech employees are encouraged to receive vaccinations.
While there is no federal or state mandate to receive the vaccine, Florida Tech recommends all employees get vaccinated as soon as they are eligible. The COVID-19 vaccination is advised regardless of a history of COVID illness.
Vaccine distribution and eligibility are determined by the Florida Department of Health. For the latest vaccine information, visit the CDD website, https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/.
All employees will be provided with paid time-off to receive vaccinations. Employees are to work with their managers to schedule time as needed for vaccinations.
