Post Award

The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) exists to perform the post-award administration of sponsored projects by:

  • preparing financial and other non-scientific reports to sponsors on sponsored projects,
  • monitoring for compliance with sponsor and Florida Tech requirements,
  • assuring reimbursement of project expenditures
  • providing training and support to departmental administrators
  • coordinating award documentation and approval processes with our pre-award system and with other Florida Tech supporting departments
  • answering questions and providing information to sponsors and to Florida Tech personnel in a prompt, accurate and cordial fashion.

OSP performs these duties and responsibilities assisting in safeguarding project funds, maximize cash flow, maintain good relations with sponsors and campus personnel. OSP is here to support the principal investigators and departmental administrators as facilitating the progress of the sponsored project.

Principal Investigator Responsibility

Research

  • Conducts the research, which includes, but is not limited to:
    • Managing project personnel
    • Overseeing the scope of work
    • Authorizing payments to consultants and sub-recipients
    • Overseeing the scientific integrity of the project
    • Communicating any allegations of academic fraud or scientific misconduct to the appropriate office. Ensuring all researchers are trained in the responsible conduct of research
  • Complies with the Intellectual Property Policy
  • Discloses inventions, discoveries, and improvements to Florida Tech University and the Florida Tech Research Foundation
  • Complies with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) for combating trafficking in persons

Award and Administrative Oversight

  • Reviews and approves all expenditures, in conjunction with the appropriate University Research Administration staff in accordance with the terms and conditions of the award
  • Certifies Personnel Activity Reports
  • Completes interim and final technical reports
  • Prepares continuation or renewal proposal in a timely manner
  • Retains project data and materials as required
  • Updates annual Conflict of Interest and prepares a Disclosure Form if a significant financial conflict of interest develops
